Well, we are just weeks away from the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. It is getting very exciting and I am pleased to announce a new website and lots of new training and workshops dates as well as a streamlined booking form for workshops!! It has been a very busy week coordinating all of this and lots of hours in front of the computer working on the website instead of being down in the studio. All worthwhile though. I will be at a number of new venues after the Craft and Quilt Fair for workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. The new venues are:
And of course, I will be teaching from the studio in Churchill, perfect for small groups. Link here to the new booking form

It has been a while since have posted, so I thought I would share what I do when I am not playing with Powertex. These cute little "faerie bears" are hand-felted over a calico bear, in a rainbow of colours. Perfect to sit and make at night - very easy, just watch out for those sharp needles!! With the right equipment, it isn't a problem. They can be personalised with babies names or created and embellished to suit your décor. They will be available in the "Faeries with Attitude" on-line shop and I am happy to post anywhere within Australia. I plan to have workshops in creating these little characters available soon, from the Churchill studio. All materials will be provided, including fibre in a range of colours, felting needles and tools and of course, the calico bear, which is available in three sizes. Workshop cost will depend on the size of the bear. Kits will also be available. How fabulous to see Powertex Australia at so many Stiches and Craft Shows and Quilt and Craft Fairs throughout Australia and New Zealand next year. I am so excited about being at both major shows next year with Ashley, the Importer/Owner of Powertex Australia in Melbourne next year. The Quilt and Craft Fair will be on from Thursday, 26th to Sunday, 29th of June and the Stiches and Craft Show is at Caulfield Race Course from Thursday, 23rd to Sunday, 26th of October. 2014 will be a great Powertex year!! I am starting to pack and get organised for what will be a busy weekend. On Saturday, the Faeries will be at the "End of the Line" Festival in Belgrave. This should be the most amazing event. So many mazing performances, art displays and activities and of course a makers market, that I will be at. End of the Line Website and Program Then on Sunday, I will be at the fabulous Yarra Glen market, with Craft Markets Australia. A great opportunity to finish off your Christmas shopping in the beautiful Yarra Valley. Link here to the Craft Markets Australia site for more information Over the last few days I have been making a few different things for the market at Hanging Rock on Sunday. Some candle holders, Yin and Yang inspired sculptures, Buddha candle holders and some new wall art. A nice change!! I will have to take photos of the other things on Sunday, as they are already packed into the van. For anyone after a great day on Sunday, the Hanging Rock Market should be fabulous. Hope the rain stays away!! Lots of stall holders and of course, Hanging Rock as the most spectacular backdrop for this market. For more information, link to the Craft Markets Australia page here. Now that the warmer weather is finally here, spend a fabulous day being creative with an "Arty Party" with Faeries with Attitude. OFFER: Organise FOUR FRIENDS plus yourself, CHOOSE one of the exciting Art Workshops and be rewarded with ONE Workshop FREE! Do you have some 'Arty' friends? Would you like a Day Out with a difference? If so why not book an 'Arty Party' and have a fun day with your friends discovering how easy it is to create artworks with Powertex! This offer only applies to workshops held at the Churchill studio. All materials are supplied, just bring yourself and your creativity. Link to the booking page here I have finally unpacked the final boxfrom the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne last weekend. What a fabulous experience it was, and how great for Powertex and "Faeries with Attitude" to get such exposure in Melbourne. Many thanks to both Ash and Mark, from Powertex Australia, for such an opportunity. Also, thanks to Sharron, Caren and Lyn for helping out on the stand during the Fair and being our support people while Ash and I demonstrated or held workshops. For the wonderful artwork that was on the stand, thanks to Val, Kaz, Sharron and Caren. There were so many compliments about the standard and variety of artwork. We were so lucky to get the additional space above the stand to display the fantastic mixed media and PowerPrint pieces. Thanks also to Ken, my husband. He was up the ladder hanging artwork, helping shift stock, doing a lot of the "heavy stuff" during set-up and then on Sunday night, taking it all back down again. I feel as if it has taken all week to recover, but will be back into workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course this week!! Off to do a workshop at Wyreena Community Arts Centre in Croydon tomorrow. I will also be taking down my first delivery of sculptures to the gallery which will be there on a regular basis!! Just a reminder as well that all coloured Powertex 500ml bottles are $25.00 for February. This includes, Ivory, Terracotta, Lead-Grey, Bronze, Black and Green. Postage extra of course. I have finally over-come my absolute terror at the thought of having to use the EFTPOS machine, so am now quite happy to do mail orders. Our lovely people at the local Australia Post in Churchill have been really helpful, and if it is a large order,I will compare it with a courier. Just as a rough guide, managed to get 6 litres to Melbourne, plus a few heads and other bits and pieces for $15.75. Well, the new website is finally here! The gremlins out there in the ether have finally been sorted, and the website is now showing up when searched for. I am quite pleased with it.
If anyone is wanting to do their own website I would suggest giving Weebly a try. I have done the site myself - taken many, many late nights. There are a few more photographs of work completed and a more comprehensive view of the amazing Powertex product range. My New Years resolution has been to try and keep information about workshops, markets and other events that the faeries will be at, more up-to-date. Tomorrow I have two lovely ladies training to become Certified Powertex Trainers. I will post photos of their work on Thursday. They have both been very busy making gifts for family and friends for Christmas, so have already been working with the product. It is exciting to have more Trainers coming on board with Powertex. The next Certified Powertex Trainer Course will be on Saturday, 9th and Sunday, 10th February at the Churchill studio. Already have one person booked in!! |
